Kigarashi Soundboards
Shigeru pianos have a beautiful, exquisite sound that comes from their handcrafted, custom solid spruce soundboard. It is made from the finest spruce aged by the traditional Kigarashi technique, which uses only time and nature to cause the wood to achieve a natural balance. The result? An exclusive tonal quality audiences love.
Shiko Seion Hammers
Shiko Seion hammers are made by our Master Piano Artisans (MPAs) and are truly one-of-a-kind. These hammers have the Japanese words for “ultimate voicing” in their name because of the exceptional expression and response achieved through a time-honoured, handcrafted manufacturing process — one that avoids heat or artificial hardeners completely.
Konsei Katagi Rim
The Konsei Katagi rim features a unique combination of hardwoods to provide the perfect sound balance. Small-pored hardwoods that offer improved brightness and projection are interlaminated with dense, large-pored hardwoods that give warmth and fullness. This collaboration of structurally diverse woods gives the Shigeru piano its distinctive richness of tone.
Concert-Length Key Buttons
The SK-7’s main keys are made of hardwood maple and have been extended in length to dramatic effect. These improvements result in increased stiffness and considerably more energy transmission.
Stretcher Over-Lap Design
Stretcher Over-Lap Integrated Design (SOLID) creates an exceptionally rigid foundation to support string tension. With SOLID construction, the pinblock is hand-fitted to the plate. The pinblock and over-lapping stretcher bar are then integrated into a single structure and solidly anchored to the rim. The resulting framework possesses outstanding strength and rigidity to ensure stable tuning and powerful tone.
